BBFAA Victorian Division "PILLOWTALK" Newsletter

Below is the current edition of PILLOWTALK from the Victorian Division Chairperson. This is our primary communication tool with our Divisional members - it is also YOUR opportunity and reminder to contact us with any of your business concerns, comments and especially triumphs!

Please tell us what are "the good, the bad and the ugly" issues that are affecting your business - because "together" we can find solutions and also congratulate each other for jobs well done.

Is there a special event coming up in your region? Has a new tourist attraction, winery, gallery or such like opened close to you? Tell your fellow members so we can tell our guests and provide a valuable and knowledgeable "personal service" to them.

If you would like to contribute anything to the next edition of PILLOWTALK, please email us at vic [at] bbfaa.com.au.

Dear Members

Our colleagues at Tourism Alliance Victoria have circulated advice about possible planned controlled burns over the Easter Period.

The Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) will monitor conditions over the Easter weekend and will conduct planned burning in some parts of the state, when conditions are suitable.

DSE State Duty Officer, Mark Woodman said that many areas of the state were still too wet to ignite burns following this week's rain. But he said that light winds and moderate conditions would allow burning in some places.

"A window of opportunity for burning will open up over Easter, beginning in the west of the state and moving eastwards as the weekend progresses.

"We are planning to conduct some burns in the south west and central Victoria, South Gippsland and possibly the Otways, although additional burns may occur in other parts of the state."

Mr Woodman said the burns would largely be in remote areas but some small burns would occur near more populated areas and would be visible, including in the Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Valley.

The announcement includes a safety warning for driving in hazardous conditions due to low visibility and where you and your guests can obtain information in the event of developing symptoms due to smokey conditions.

Daylight Savings Ends

A reminder that Daylight Savings ends this weekend at 2 a.m Sunday 4 April. Clocks are wound back one hour.

Planning Industry Information Days

The Victorian Division Committee is examining the possibility of staging an Industry Day for members. In order to plan for this the Committee requires your advice on some key aspects and has developed a survey to gather that advice. The survey should take less than five minutes to complete.

This is the first of two surveys that will be sent to members; the second survey will provide an edited version of the results of the first survey so that members can further refine the advice they give the Committee in the light of the first responses received across the Victorian Membership.

Please click on the link below to complete the survey.

If you have any other comments or advice you'd like to send to the Committee please send it to John Annison.

Thank you

Mark Steller
Victorian Division Chairperson
